Che Fico The Restaurant

Che-Fico-1.jpg

Che Fico is an Italian Taverna in San Francisco’s Nopa neighborhood. It’s a place to gather with friends and enjoy warm hospitality, food and drink, through an approachable menu and convivial ambiance. The food focuses on Italian cuisine through the lens of California. It’s our vision of Northern California as if it is a region in Italy, our connection to the region and our love for Italian culinary practices. The rustic, market-driven menu features handmade pasta, pizzas, antipasti, housemade salumi, meat and fish plus dishes from Chef David Nayfeld’s family’s Jewish-Roman heritage known as “Cucina Ebraica.” The beverage program focuses heavily on both Italian and Californian wines with a cocktail program that utilizes a variety of spirits, amaros, and seasonal ingredients.

The restaurant itself inhabits a building with over 100 years of history in San Francisco and was originally built as a stable after the great fire in 1906 and before our takeover of the space, an auto body shop.  A complete overhaul of the building was necessary to bring it up to date. The space was further brought to life by the vibrant interior design of Jon de la Cruz and his firm DLC-ID and has since garnered multiple awards.

Say “Kay-Feeco” & with Gusto!

Throughout Italy “Che Fico!” serves as an expression of enthusiasm and admiration. The literal translation means “what a fig” but it is a colloquial equivalent to “that’s so cool!” This phrase is an accurate representation of our feelings towards San Francisco. We hope to express that through the food, drink, and warm hospitality we provide in our own space and our greater community.
